My yoga instruction combines the philosophy of yoga with the poses. Yoga is much more than stretching and bending! It is a system many thousands of years old, designed to open the energetic, psychic, physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of the Self. My teaching combines elements of Iyengar, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga to provide a multi-dimensional exploration of this complex, challenging, and rewarding discipline.

I emphasize anatomically correct alignment and attention to the breath and the energetic body. Through my classes, students report greater strength and fluidity, rehabilitation of postural-related injuries and opening in chronically tight areas. I also help students strengthen their core muscles and use those muscles for support and joint protection. I integrate yoga philosophy, mindfulness meditation, chanting, pranayama (breathing techniques) and connection to the elements of nature in my classes and private sessions to provide a deeper understanding both on and off the mat.

Contact me for pricing and scheduling of private or semi-private sessions. Corporate workshops and children's birthday parties incorporating yoga are also available. Sessions may be conducted in your home or office; I also have access to studios and private gyms throughout NYC.

Gift certificates are available.

Lauren is a beautiful, caring, and well-grounded person – the perfect combination in a yoga instructor! She brings a caring and healing energy to her work, while safely pushing me beyond where I thought I could go.  I always left our sessions feeling renewed and positive – no easy feat in NYC!

Lauren is a gifted yoga instructor. I came to her needing help with the mechanics of basic yoga poses. I was also very tight and had frequent neck and should pain as a result of balancing mothering and work. With a great sense of humor, patience, and a strong foundation in anatomy, Lauren gently guided me from the basics to a more advanced asana practice than I thought possible for myself. After working with Lauren I am stronger, my breathing is deeper and more even, and I no longer experience the neck and shoulder discomfort that I had for years before we met. I feel the benefits of these positive changes every day. I encourage anyone, regardless of your experience with yoga or your current physical condition, to begin or deepen your yoga practice with this dynamic instructor.

Lauren has such wonderful qualities as a teacher--not only does she have an exquisite understanding of physical anatomy and alignment, she shares an illuminating and simultaneously down-to-earth spiritual wisdom with her students.  The fruits of her meditation and yoga practice are evident in the lovingkindness, warmth, and nurturing she embodies in her teaching and her presence.

“Lauren has great knowledge of both the physical and intellectual sides of yoga. I am always impressed at how she senses the needs of the students, and serves their needs through the various asanas (poses). She explains the asanas with great skill, using her knowledge of physiology. She integrates the spiritual benefits of yoga very skillfully. I feel nourished by each class.”
